Hop over to Abby Flowers blog and check out the blog-fest she is holding called Kurious Kids-Fest. You will find directions on how to participate. There will be prizes involved! Abby was introduced to the power of poetry through Shell Silverstein as a child and will be giving away a copy of “The Light in the Attic” to one lucky contestant. There are rules to be followed. And, you must write about one of your favorite childhood picture books on your blog.
I’m going back 50 + years and children’s picture books were longer. I believe my favorite picture book was Uncle Wiggly. I used to beg my mother or father to read me a story or two a night. Uncle Wiggly was such a gentleman rabbit with a top hat and a cane, who lived in the forest. He couldn’t speak, but he understood people. He was gentle and loving and always had a solution for every problem. He devoted his life to helping animals and children. Uncle Wiggly really gave me a strong sense of values as a child. The stories today don’t compare to the original Uncle Wiggly stories I remember as a child. But, I loved the adventure at bedtime and even had an Uncle Wiggly game. I will always have fond memories of this beloved rabbit.
YAY! I’m so glad you’re participating in the Kids-Fest! I love hearing about everyone’s favorite book memories from when they were a child. This sounds like a wonderful book and such an amazing rabbit! I’ll post the winners after the contest! 🙂 Have a great holiday weekend!

Fun blogfest! My favorite book as a child was Where the Sidewalk Ends, too. I memorized most of the poems!
I’m over here from the campaign! Have a great weekend!
